Undercroft Market is open every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday come rain or shine!

Opening hours can occasionally change around bank holidays and Christmas, so check our homepage and latest social media updates before making a special journey.

Do you sell British and locally grown fruit and vegetables?

Absolutely. We love supporting British growers and Oxfordshire producers whenever the seasons allow.

Throughout the year you’ll find plenty of UK-grown fruit and vegetables on our stall, plus local potatoes, asparagus and strawberries to apples, rhubarb, squash and more.

Look out for what’s British and seasonal when you visit, we’re always happy to tell you where something has come from.

Where does your fruit and veg come from?

We work with trusted suppliers to bring fresh, good-quality produce to Watlington.

Our main supplier buys from Covent Garden wholesale market every night, giving us access to fantastic produce from UK growers and further afield. We also buy seasonal produce from Rectory Farm in Oxfordshire and work with other local producers wherever we can.

The result is a constantly changing market full of fresh produce rather than the same selection week after week.

What fruit and vegetables are in season right now?

That changes all the time and that’s half the fun of shopping at a proper fruit and veg market!

We follow the British growing seasons as much as possible, so you might find local produce such as asparagus and rhubarb in spring, strawberries and soft fruits in summer, squash and British apples in autumn and hearty roots, brassicas and greens through the colder months.

Follow Undercroft Market on social media to see what’s fresh and in season this week. Follow the easy link on our homepage.

How fresh is your fruit and veg?

Very! We receive FOUR fresh fruit and vegetable deliveries every week, which means our produce has a quick turnover and isn’t sitting around in storage for weeks.

Freshness means better flavour, better quality and less waste. It's fresh fruit and veg that tastes as it should!

Can I buy loose fruit and vegetables?

Yes and we positively encourage it!

Most of our fruit and vegetables can be bought loose, so you can choose exactly what you need. One carrot? Fine. Three potatoes? Absolutely. Enough broccoli to feed the entire family? We can do that too.

Buying loose fruit and vegetables also helps cut down on unnecessary packaging and food waste.

Can I buy just the amount I need?

Yes. One of the best things about shopping at Undercroft Market is that you’re not forced to buy a huge bag when you only need a couple of items.

Choose the quantity that works for you. It’s a simple way to reduce food waste, save money and shop more sustainably.

Do you make fruit and vegetable boxes?

Yes. We offer fresh fruit and veg boxes packed with a great selection of produce.

They’re a lovely way to keep the fridge stocked, discover what’s looking particularly good that week and make eating more fruit and vegetables that little bit easier.

Do you deliver fruit and veg boxes locally?

Local delivery is available for our fruit and vegetable boxes within a 5 mile radius of OX49 5PY

Get in touch with Undercroft Market to check whether we currently deliver to your area around Watlington and the surrounding Oxfordshire villages.

Do you sell organic fruit and vegetables?

We don’t describe the whole market as organic because our priority is freshness, quality, seasonality and supporting British and local growers wherever possible.

Some produce may be organic, so if that’s particularly important to you, just ask us when you visit.

What else do you sell besides fruit and vegetables?

There’s usually plenty more to discover.

Alongside our fresh fruit and veg you’ll find local eggs, local raw honey, Waterperry Garden's local apple juice, flowers, plants, herbs and other seasonal treats.

Our range changes throughout the year, so there’s nearly always something different to tempt you.

Do you sell flowers and plants?

Yes. With a florist of around 30 years at the helm, we couldn’t resist bringing flowers and plants into the mix!

Depending on the season, you’ll find fresh flowers, houseplants, bedding plants, dried flowers and seasonal plants alongside our fruit and vegetables.

Can I pay by cash or card?

Yes. We accept cash and card payments, with a minimum card spend of £2.

And yes, we’re very happy to take cash. It is our actually our preferred payment method as there are no charges to the business.

Why shop at a local fruit and veg market instead of a supermarket?

Because shopping for fruit and veg doesn’t have to involve plastic bags, giant packs and buying six of something when you only need two.

At Undercroft Market you can buy loose, buy seasonally and buy exactly what you need. We have four fresh deliveries each week and source British and local produce whenever possible.

You’re also supporting a small independent Oxfordshire business and helping us support UK farmers, growers and local producers in return.

Do you support local Oxfordshire farmers and producers?

Yes. Supporting local producers is an important part of what we do.

We source seasonal produce from Rectory Farm, alongside locally produced eggs from Witney, raw honey from Radnage and apple juice from Waterperry Gardens. All local Oxfordshire based businesses.

When good produce is being grown or made close to home, we’d much rather give it space on our market.

Do you sell unusual or seasonal fruit and vegetables?

Definitely. Our range changes with availability and the seasons, which means you’ll often spot something you won’t find on your usual supermarket run.

From unusual squash and heritage-style produce to seasonal British fruit and vegetables, there is always something worth having a rummage for.

Sometimes, Mother Nature dictates that we have to source some more exotic varieties of fruit and veg from further afield, but usually not beyond Europe if possible and never using airmiles.

Do I need to pre-order?

No. Just bring a bag or basket and come and have a browse.

For larger quantities, special orders or fruit and veg boxes, it’s worth contacting us beforehand so we can make sure we have what you need.
